My name is Bess Callard and I am an illustrator and graphic designer working in Montreal, Canada.
In 2006, after a successful career in contemporary dance, I began the transition into the world of graphic design. While sitting at a computer for eight hours a day was very new to me, the principles and concepts I was being exposed to at design school were quite the opposite. Dance explores the relationship between the dancer to the space around them, not at all unlike the relationship between type and the empty page. My years of dancing have certainly influenced my current work, imbuing it with a sense of movement and play.
Shortly after my career change, I had the opportunity to move to Europe. I lived there for the next three years, and had the time and freedom to explore what I was really passionate about. This was where I began my children's illustration company, English Muffin. It was through this venture that I honed my skills as an illustrator and made my initial foray into entrepreneurship.
My work is clean, timeless and fun. I have an eye for detail and the dedication to see a project through from beginning to end. I am open, creative and passionate about design.
I would love to work with you.
Drop me a line, and let's get started!
